An area situated a short distance to the east and south-east of CSR's historic Mount Gunson open cut copper workings is being explored for possible buried economic base metal deposits that may exist in a variety of geological settings and mineralisation styles (with the latter particularly centred on known results of sedex and replacement genetic processes). Within the two now relinquished portions of EL 5850, which together comprise ~26% of the originally granted licence area, the work undertaken has been parts of geophysical surveys having a broader footprint : initially, this included part of a 553 line km helicopter-borne EM survey flown over the northern portion of the licence area during April 2013; based on the AEM anomalies so obtained, a 3D gradient array ground IP survey of 3 lines totalling 4.5 line km was then performed in September 2014 as secondary follow-up to some results from a 36.65 line km moving loop ground EM survey that was performed in May 2014. The 3D IP survey target was first interpreted from the prior ground EM coverage as a 4.7 km long, flat lying weak conductor located at a depth of around 300 m, that is situated near a fault which had been inferred from gravity data. However, the IP data showed that the apparent conductor was an artefact. As no other chargeable zones could be seen in these IP data, the metallic sulphide prospectivity of the ground near the fault zone was downgraded, leading to a decision to relinquish it.
