Shallow pattern drilling on a two-mile grid (49 percussion holes for a total penetration of 2694 feet) has been carried out by BHP in the area between Port Linclon and Coffin Bay to assess the possible reserves and quality of aeolianite limestone rock exposed at surface there. The drilling showed that very large tonnages of material are present, which initial sampling analysis suggests may contain low impurity levels.
