The subject relinquished portion of EL 6291, comprising 29% of the ground formerly held by the licensee since its second partial surrender in October 2015, has been explored for possible buried sediment-hosted uranium mineralisation of Beverley type that may occupy palaeochannel and sheet sandstone roll front redox interfaces within the Tertiary age Namba and Eyre Formations. Potential was also thought to exist for discovering buried secondary occurrences of base metal and gold mineralisation that may be associated with faulting and unconformity breaks present within the Lower Cambrian limestone unit sequence. During the report period, exploration activities conducted by Heathgate within the now relinquished portion of the licence area, that is located immediately to the south of the Gammon Ranges National Park, were limited to a literature review and the compilation of historical exploration data that included subsurface geological information obtained by two earlier [un-named here] rotary mud exploratory drillholes. Prospective reduced and oxidised sediments of the Namba and Eyre Formations were encountered there by that past drilling, having previously been interpreted from airborne geophysical data, but no target redox fronts were identified.
