An area centred ~90 km west-northwest of Tarcoola and ~15 km south of the Challenger gold mine is being explored for possible economic metallic mineralisation that may have formed in igneous and metamorphic basement rocks, ideally in places where the sedimentary cover is thin. The first licence year was mainly taken up with doing logistical preparations and data reviews. FMG’s opinion is that the licence area overlies a geologically varied terrain having good potential to contain mineralisation, most probably gold in the northern part and also base metals further south. However, the company's initial assessment of relevant publically available data did not reveal any interesting geophysical anomalies. During licence Year 2, a close spaced ground gravity survey was designed that would take advantage of the existing government and industry open file gravity data to build from in defining any potential targets. This survey was planned to be carried out in the near future, because on-ground access to the tenement had become more freely obtainable after amendments to the Defence Act 1903 – affecting the issue of permits giving access to the Woomera Prohibited Area (WPA) – came into force on 9/8/2014. Also, an agreement with the Antakirinja Matu-Yankunytjatjara Native Title claimant group was signed during the reporting period to further acknowledge access rights. During licence Year 3, no field work was done. FMG Fortescue began conducting a regional strategic review to better define a coherent IOCG exploration workspace in South Australia. This review was anticipated to be completed by April 2016. During licence Year 4, no work was done. The regional strategic review was finished and it concluded that the licence has good prospectivity for IOCG mineralisation. A programme of geophysical survey acquisition was planned.
