Two small adjacent areas located 25 km north of Port Augusta, on the south-eastern Stuart Shelf close to the Torrens Hinge Zone, are being explored for possible buried economic IOCG style mineralisation which could have formed within inferred deep and as yet undrilled Gawler Ranges Volcanics or Wallaroo Group economic basement. No previous drillholes in the vicinity have penetrated below the lower Adelaidean Beda Volcanics. Licensee Fortescue Metals Group Ltd (FMG) is hopeful that it can identify blocks of upthrust basement through reprocessing available geophysical survey data plus the acquisition of new detailed ground gravity data. To date the dense and strongly magnetic mafic Beda Volcanics have hindered previous explorers in their geophysics-based targeting of the underlying prospective basement. No field work was done during the first year of the project. A review of all historic exploration data is being conducted to form a model of the local geological structures in what is believed to be an interesting terrain. During Year 2 of the project, Native Title land access negotiations were conducted, and an agreement was finalised with the Barngala claimant group, allowing for future on-ground exploration to proceed. FMG's initial assessment of the open file geophysical data did not yield any new anomalies. To detect any anomalous basement responses that are currently masked by the thick cover sequence, future exploration is likely to involve acquisition of geophysical surveys. During Year 3 of the project, no work was done. During Year 4 of the project 2 new tenements EL 5825 and EL 5782 were granted to the company on 11/8/2016 and 13/5/16 respectively. No work was completed during the fourth licence year of EL’s 5237 and 5338, nor the first licence year of EL 5782. During the first license year of EL 5825, Fortescue conducted a regional review and designed and began a 500 m and 250 m spaced helicopter supported ground gravity program. At the time of reporting the newly acquired data was still being processed, once this is complete the data will be used for 2D and 3D interpretations and forward modelling. During Year 5 of the project FMG Resources were granted 10 exploration licences including EL 6043, EL 6052, EL 6108, EL 6042, EL 6044, EL 6049, EL 6130, EL 6088, EL 6106 and EL 6152, with a combined area of 2,797 km2, these licences were added to the Port Augusta Joint Reporting Group. During the reporting period, Fortescue conducted a regional review (inclusive of reinterpretation of drillhole logging) and designed and carried out a 500-100 m spaced helicopter supported ground gravity program. The initial survey collected data from 3904 stations across EL’s 5825, 5782, 5338 and 6151. The second survey collected data on foot 1192 stations on EL 6052. The gravity surveys identified 4 areas of anomalism, with each site infilled to 250 m (if Fortescue believed it to be >500 m below the surface) or 100 m (if believed to be <500 m below the surface). A single target within EL 6052 was selected for priority follow up. A reconnaissance geological field trip to Cultana & Roopena areas were completed as well as petrophysics of six rock samples collected from Backy Point. --- EL 6218 “Kootaberra Project” was surrendered by FMG Resources Pty Ltd (Fortescue) 2/8/2023. The licence lied outside of and to the north of the Cultana Army Training Ground and is centred ~65 km north-northwest of Port Augusta. The tenement covered the western margin of a large regional gravity high. During the term of the tenement Fortescue conducted a helicopter-assisted ground gravity survey, with 1318 stations collected on the surrendered tenement. The processing and interpretation of geophysical data along with pastoral and heritage discussions undertaken. Work was also undertaken to review the sediment-hosted coper potential for the area which included core inspections, the collection of 26 geochemistry samples and 1 petrology sample from historic holes PUB 15/ SAU 5 and PUB 14/ SAU 4. A review by senior geologist on the prospectivity of the tenement was undertaken, and the decision was made to allow the tenement to expire at the end of its current term. EL 6052 “Kootaberra Project” was surrendered 14/8/2023. The report covers the exploration work undertaken on the tenement by FMG Resources Pty Ltd (Fortescue) between 13/11/2017 – 14/8/2023. The tenement is located ~65 km north-northwest of Port Augusta, east of Pernatty Lagoon. The tenement was located on the northern end of a large regional gravity high. An open file data review identified a discrete gravity-magnetic feature and followed it up with a ground gravity survey at a 200 m spacing with infill to 100 m, a total of 1192 stations were collected over the tenement by Atlas Geophysics from 14 February 2018 to 28 March 2018. This was later followed up with a 3-line 2 km each AMT survey conducted by ZONGE Engineering that allowed for detailed targeting for drilling. A single RC pre-collar (209.5 m) diamond tail hole PND0001 was drilled for 631.8 m in late 2018. Downhole samples were analysed for major and trace elements, with follow up petrophysical and petrographic analysis undertaken in 2020. Alteration was intersected within carbonate-rich sediments in the form of a garnet-pyroxene skarn assemblage, with minor sulphides identified. The sediments are presumed to correlate with the Wallaroo Group. Three samples were selected for Scanning Electron Microscopy to investigate their varying styles of “skarn” alteration. The decision was made to fully surrender the tenement following a review of all available data, and that the alteration noted in the single drillhole was sufficient to explain the observed geophysical response that was the original target. Tenements EL 5782 and EL 6568 “Whittata and Otcheck” were surrendered 6/10/2023. The report covers the exploration work undertaken on the tenement by FMG Resources Pty Ltd (Fortescue) between 13/5/2016 – 6/10/2023 (EL 5782) and 11/12/2020 – 6/10/2023 (EL 6568). The tenements were located ~83 km north-northwest of Port Augusta and ~96 km southeast of Woomera, between Pernatty Lagoon and Lake Torrens and consisted of multiple disjointed areas. On EL 5782, Fortescue conducted data reviews, helicopter assisted ground gravity surveys along with processing and interpretations, and pastoral and heritage discussions. The helicopter-assisted ground gravity survey was conducted by Atlas Geophysics in September 2017 across multiple tenements, with 339 stations on a 500 m spacing collected on EL 5782, with the data processed and merged with existing government data. Exploration during the 2020-23 period was restricted to desktop reviews, with no on ground activities conducted due to restrictions imposed with COVID-19. On EL 6568, Fortescue conducted data reviews, inspected 2 historic drill holes from which 35 samples were collected for geochemical analysis, and commissioned a geophysical study to produce geological models for the tenement.
