The south-western portion of EL 5731 Mount Fitton has now been relinquished. It lies proximal to Adelaidean sedimentary cover to the Mount Painter Inlier basement rocks, which sediments were thought to have the potential to host SEDEX or MVT style base metal mineralisation that may have formed in the Tapley Hill Formation and other receptive units. During the nine years that this 32.6 square km portion of ground was held, only minimal, low environmental impact geochemical exploration work was done there, i.e. the collection and assaying of 5 rock chip samples, as well as part of a regional soil geochemistry reconnaissance program that was undertaken via portable XRF spectrometric scanning analyses.
