An area located immediately south-east of Pimba has been explored for possible shallowly buried IOCG mineralisation, with a focus on the iron ore potential of magnetite/haematite breccias associated with this mineralisation type. During the first licence year, no field work was done. Activities were confined to desktop studies of available geophysical data, particularly detailed magnetic data. Starting in 2019, the entire licence area was scanned by a consultant geophysicist using innovative magnetic techniques designed to locate potential iron-related breccias for further evaluation. To perform this work, open file aeromagnetic data from SARIG were reprocessed and 3D models of magnetic point data were generated across the area and down to a depth of around 4 km. This model of magnetic susceptibilities was then viewed as a series of vertical slices in various orientations. A total of 27 polygons containing magnetic features tagged as anomalous were snipped from the gridded data and examined in detail. In general, this work was made more difficult by the ubiquitous nature of Neoproterozoic Gairdner Dolerite dykes throughout the Pimba region. Four potential drill targets were identified, with Target 4 scoring a moderately high ranking. This feature is located on the intersection of two intruding dykes. It has a prominent cylindrical shape with a 580 m diameter, is buried under 890 m of cover, and has a source body depth extent exceeding 1400 m. Due to the very poor gravity coverage of the Pimba area, it was recommended that further ground gravity survey data be acquired in order to assist with evaluating potential targets. During licence Year 2, the geophysical consultants' report was reviewed, and it was concluded that it had failed to highlight any compelling targets on EL 6346. It was thought that the prioritised targets were most likely to represent responses generated from the Gairdner Dolerite dykes. There is also a discouragingly very thick cover sequence (~1 km) lying over the IOCG target Gawler Range Volcanics and older rocks. It was decided not to conduct further exploration, and to allow the licence's tenure to lapse at expiry.
