The licence area is located immediately south and east of Woomera along the eastern margin of the Gawler Craton, within the prospective Olympic Dam IOCG Province. The area is considered prospective for deep IOCG mineralisation, as well as for unconformity-related Cu-Co deposits within the cover sequences. At the end of licence Year 2, a total of 313 square km of ground comprising the northern and western portions of the tenement (~70%) were voluntarily relinquished for a number reasons: difficulty of access, because it was now considered to have low potential to host economic copper, gold, and cobalt, and as a cost-cutting measure in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the three years of tenure, work undertaken of relevance to the relinquished ground consisted of making a review of open-file company reports, public domain documents and geological papers, and recovered surface geochemical and drill sampling results, as well as other regional-scale infrastructure and physiography datasets provided by the Geological Survey of SA and Geoscience Australia, besides making an assessment of potential mineralisation features and exploration targets. No field work was undertaken in the relinquished areas, and no new data were generated.
