Several separate areas that cover ground straddling the major tectonic boundary between the Olary and Broken Hill domains of the southern Curnamona Province are being explored for possible economic buried stratabound Proterozoic iron ore, epithermal copper-gold mineralisation and Broken Hill type base and precious metal occurrences. During 2014, the first year of the project, Havilah undertook feasibility studies on the Mutooroo mine copper prospect (EL 4590) and on the Maldorky iron prospect (EL 5179). The former has been assigned an initial JORC-compliant combined Measured, Indicated and Inferred Resource of 13.1 Mt @ 1.48% copper, plus appreciable cobalt, gold and sulphur credits, while the latter has an Indicated Resource of 147 Mt @ 30.1% Fe, using a cut-off grade of 18% Fe. Preliminary work done at Mutooroo comprised the compilation of metallurgical and environmental datasets. For Maldorky, a number of specialist consultants were employed to perform scoping studies in pit design, tailings dam construction, and other infrastructure planning, to support the submission to DSD of a Mining Lease proposal, which occurred in mid-2014. Pilot plant testwork on ore crushing and grinding was conducted to refine a metallurgical processing flow sheet. Further hydrogeological data gathering and assessment was done to model aquifer behaviour during pressure drawdown. Reconnaissance drilling conducted on EL 4727, where outcrops of the target strongly folded Braemar Ironstone are rare, revealed magnetite-bearing ironstone formation beds in three locations which were shown to carry between 29% and 33% Fe, suggesting a large tonnage potential for this new discovery. During the second year of the project, feasibility and scoping studies were progressed on EL 5179 (Cutana) at the Maldorky iron deposit, and on EL 4590 (Mutooroo mine) at the Mutooroo copper deposit. In response to government and public submissions that had been received in 2014 on the company's Maldorky project Mining Lease Proposal, Havilah Resources prepared and in September 2015 submitted to DSD a formal Response Document, which is currently under assessment. Preparation of the Response Document required a number of external specialist studies to be commissioned as well as further internal studies, as follows [data to follow later]: - continued development of the processing flow sheet and site water balance; - a noise and air quality review study undertaken by Vipac Engineers and Scientists; - a topsoil assessment study undertaken to further investigate the sodic and dispersive nature of surface soils present; - further hydrogeological studies undertaken by Australian Groundwater Technologies involving a long term pumping and recovery test (9 and 18 days respectively) with monitoring conducted at 26 observation wells; review / analysis of the drilling and hydraulic information obtained from the field program; and making an update of the original conceptual and numerical groundwater model; - investigation of the potential to export Maldorky iron ore using Arrium’s underutilised capacity at Whyalla; - continued engagement with adjacent Pastoral Lease holders; and - continued engagement with Native Title group traditional owners.
