Two separate areas in the Arckaringa Basin, designated as EL 5598 Areas 'A' and 'B', have been taken up to allow for a fresh assessment of the development potential of the large East Wintinna and Weedina coal deposits, respectively. During the first licence year, ARK Energy performed desktop studies aimed at assembling for review all of the available data for the two deposits previously obtained by: - drilling - seismic, geotechnical, hydrogeological and other on-ground programs - environmental studies - mining feasibility studies. A core component of this work included completing coal resource estimates for both deposits, and an estimate of the exploration target coal mass for the subject licence area, calculated as of 15/9/2015, using methods that are in accordance with the JORC Code 2012 Edition and the Coal Guidelines 2014. The available data was critiqued, and opportunities were identified for improving the quality of existing data and for gathering new data to fill information gaps. It was concluded that the coal potential of the deeper parts of the Boorthanna Trough, within the 70 km span of distance separating the East Wintinna and Weedina coal deposits, is substantial and in need of definition through exploratory drilling. At the end of the of review, ARK Energy concluded that there is sufficient basis for making a further analysis of the prospect of commercial development of the Weedina and East Wintinna coal deposits via a Scoping Study, and plans were made to do this stage in licence Year 2. No field work was undertaken during licence Years 2 and 3 and no new technical data generated.
