Exploration Licence 6648 is located approximately 130 km northeast of Peterborough, north of the Barrier Highway. The tenement was applied for, for the purpose of joining the two parts of existing tenement EL 6484 already held by the company. The tenement covers an area of 26 square-km. During the first licence year exploration efforts were focused on a desktop study of previous exploration data for the area. The company believe that the area has untested areas for Broken Hill type mineralisation, along with large stratiform SEDEX to volcanogenic style base metal +/- gold deposit potential. During the second licence year a proposed field trip was postponed as a result of on-going consultation with the Native Title Groups to negotiate a Native Title Mining Agreement under Part 9B of the Mining Act. Work completed during the period involved the refining of exploration targets along with the generation of new targets along strike to the Craeg Dubh Prospect within the tenement. During the third and final licence year filed based geological investigations were undertaken, with geological mapping undertaken and the collection of a single rock sample for geochemical analysis. The one sample shows an anomalous result of 1875ppm TREO and relatively elevated uranium, antimony, gallium, germanium, vanadium and nickel. Although the company believed this to be a good result, they reasoned that the anomaly was localised in extent and unlikely to have the size and grade necessary for a REE project. It was decided to fully surrender the tenement.
