To comply with the terms of the 2013 Flinders Amalgamated Expenditure Agreement (AEA), a 30 square km portion of EL 6505, as two separate peripheral sub-blocks together representing ~35% of its former extent, has recently been relinquished due to it now having perceived diminished prospectivity for Beltana style zinc mineralisation. The only work completed on the relinquished ground portion was the conduct of geochemical exploration involving traverses of soil sample pXRF spectrometric scanning and other rock chip sampling of outcrops undertaken intermittently between 2009 and 2017. Overall, a total of 637 pXRF soil readings, and 10 rock chip samples for laboratory assaying, were collected, one of which was also given major element and trace element analysis. No significant base metal results were returned from any of this surface sampling. Soil pXRF scans returned maxima of 328 ppm Zn and 151 ppm Pb, although a single isolated reading of 5314 ppm Cu was obtained from within the northern sub-block. Similarly, rock chip sampling returned maxima of 190 ppm Zn and 30 ppm Pb, with one assay value of 10,250 ppm Cu being returned from the same place as the high pXRF copper reading noted above.
