The Great White Kaolin Project (previously the Poochera Kaolin Project), until recently, comprised four Exploration Licences operated by Andromeda Industrial Minerals Pty Ltd, namely, EL 6096 Whichelby, EL 6202 Mount Hall, EL 6426 Mount Cooper and EL 6588 Tootla. Due to its now perceived diminished prospectivity for economic deposits of kaolin, EL 6096 was allowed to expire without renewal. A review which was made of historic drilling data, combined with results obtained by viewing and testing 12 available drillhole samples stored at DEM’s State Drill Core reference Library, did not identify any good kaolin exploration targets within EL 6096. It is believed that the lack of shallow kaolin derived from Hiltaba Suite granites (which generally subcrop at >40 m below the surface), coupled with the poor quality of the kaolin that is derived from the mainly subcropping St Peter Suite granites, which also have >20 m thickness of cover, greatly limits the potential for useable kaolin deposits to occur within the former Whichelby tenement area.
