The Water for Infrastructure Corridors Initiative is a project funded through the Economic and Business Growth Fund and is a collaboration between the Department for Environment and Water, the Department for Infrastructure and Transport and the Department for Energy and Mining. The initiative aims to address water access constraints to growth in targeted regions of South Australia, where multi-use infrastructure corridors may be developed. The Phase 1 assessment concentrates on improving the knowledge of groundwater resources in sedimentary basins and paleochannels that could sustain long term demand for mining purposes. This report focuses on the drilling investigation that was undertaken in the Torrens Basin, which is close to the highly prospective Lake Torrens to Carrapateena Province. The drilling program and associated aquifer tests were undertaken in 2022/23 to determine the groundwater resource potential of the basin.
