FMG Resources Pty Ltd (Fortescue), was successful in securing Round 2 Accelerated Discovery Initiative funding of $120,000, for its proposed Eastern Eyre Peninsula and Northern Curnamona Gravity Survey geophysical program. The regional gravity surveys covered the majority of EL 6418 and EL 6419 on Eastern Eyre Peninsula and the entirety EL 6372, EL 6387 and EL 6709 in the Northern Curnamona Province. The initial design of the surveys over both areas was to collect a consistent 800 m spaced grid, collecting new data and infilling existing coarse spaced surveys. It was also planned to collect infill gravity data at 200 and 400 m grid spacing over previously identified targets of interest. It was hoped that the data produced by the gravity programs would allow for more detailed regional geological and structural interpretation, while allowing for the screening for density anomalies that may be indicative of the presence of Iron Oxide Copper Gold (IOCG) and associated mineral systems. The program was subject to a number of delays that resulted in a time extension to allow for the completion of the program. Delays included unfavourable weather conditions impacting land access in the Curnamona, stakeholder engagement requirements in the Eyre Peninsula, and the restrictions that were brought in during the COVID-19 pandemic. The surveys were carried out by Daishsat Geodetic Surveyors, with a total of 6805 new gravity stations collected. The Eastern Eyre Peninsula (EEP) Gravity Survey was acquired between January to June 2023, with 1737 new stations acquired. The EEP survey covered an area that included 3 Hiltaba Suite intrusions (Charleston, Glensea and Samphire Granites), within a variably deformed Donington Suite granites and gneisses with associated volcano sedimentary successions. The Northern Curnamona Gravity Survey was acquired over 2 field campaigns, April-May and November-December 2022, with the large break between campaigns being due to extensive rains and flooding restricting access to the area. A total of 5068 new gravity stations were acquired. The survey encompasses the Moolawatana Domain in an undercover greenfield area adjacent to the Mount Painter Inlier. As a part of the ADI project, Fortescue commissioned Daishsat to review and compile all available open file gravity data from the two project areas and the resultant work is included within this report. A total of 84,650 regional stations were compiled over the EEP program area, with a more detailed study completed over the Middleback Ranges comprising 61,115 stations from 3 surveys completed in 1997. In the Northern Curnamona a total of 47,404 regional gravity stations were compiled.
