“Deep EM surveying for large BHT and ISCG deposits” Under round three of the South Australian Government’s Accelerated Discovery Initiative, Petratherm was awarded funding for Deep EM surveying for large BHT and ISCG deposits on the companies Mabel Creek project tenements. The Deep SQUID EM proposal aims to determine whether newly developed high-temperature SQUID ground EM systems can detect sulphide (Iron Sulphide Copper Gold & Broken Hill Type) mineralisation under deep (+200 m), conductive cover. It will aid determination of optimum survey parameters for the various mineralisation styles and may lead to the discovery economic mineralisation in an underexplored region under cover. The proposal offers a proof of concept for EM to see through deep conductive cover where cover is typically averages 150 m. Ground Moving Loop EM surveys were undertaken in late March and early May 2023 by GEM Geophysics utilising their GT-HO transmitter, SMARTem-24 receive, and Jessy Deeps high-temperature SQUID B-field sensor. The survey was completed using a 200 x 200 m loop, with 3 areas completed with a 400 x 400 m loop to allow for a comparison in response from the different loops. An initial 50 m station spacing was increased to 100 m. A total of 34.75 line-km of surveys were undertaken across 10 targets. The survey had numerous successful outcomes in line with the ADI funding proposal including: • Different survey configurations were trialled to optimise the ability to see through thick conductive cover. • Bedrock signatures were successfully identified at depths of 250 metres below conductive cover. • At least one and potentially two conductive drill targets have been identified. • Other exploration companies in the area subsequently undertook similar SQUID geophysical surveys. Petratherm is now considering undertaking additional SQUID surveys and intends to drill at least one target generated from the work undertaken to date.
