Preliminary investigations of the potential of Marionoan and Sturtian metasediments to host economic barite deposits in an area of probable diapirism located between the Carrieton and Worumba diapirs were not encouraging, owing to the apparent lack of evidence of faults as seen on aerial photos. However, it is intended that an area with some faulting, identified south-east of the Boolcunda copper mine, will be further evaluated by field prospecting and geochemical sampling.
