Exploration of a fairly large diapir located near Carrieton was undertaken using geochemical methods to seek possible barite occurrences similar to those associated with other diapirs in the region, e.g. Oraparinna and Oladdie, as well as addressing potential for base metal deposits of the kinds found at Blinman and Puttapa Gap. Soil and stream sediment sampling has revealed distinct lead and zinc anomalies which appear to be spatially related to the margins of the diapir, and require further close investigation. Recovered barium values, on the other hand, are low and patchy, and appear to have little economic significance.
