Computer modelling using available data of the hydrogeology of the area around Lock coal deposit suggests that dewatering would result in a drawdown at the Polda pumping station by as much as 3.3 metres in the long term. Much of this drawdown could occur during the life of the mine unless some water is re-injected into the Tertiary aquifer near the eastern limit of the Polda Freshwater Basin.
