Diamond exploration undertaken in the Peake and Denison Ranges included the acquisition and processing of aerial magnetic, radiometric and heliborne magnetic and VLF-EM surveys, with follow-up ground magnetic and Sirotem surveys, plus extensive gravel, loam and bulk sampling of heavy mineral trap sites, and the RAB drilling of 5 helimag anomalies and 1 photo-anomaly (6 holes totalling 236 m). No kimberlites were found, and the target anomalies were satisfactorily explained. Numerous kimberlitic indicator minerals were recovered, including chromite, picroilmenite and pyrope, and 8 microdiamonds were found in 3 samples of stream sediments and Algebuckina Sandstone breakaway outcrops from the Edward Creek area. These indicators are now all thought to originate from secondary sources within the Mesozoic cover sequences. Base metal and precious metal exploration by farminee Utah Development Co. comprised extensive sediment and rock chip sampling along stratigraphic traverses, some limited BLEG sampling, targeted sedimentological studies and detailed geological mapping at 1:10,000 scale, plus the drilling of 1 percussion hole (180 m). Low order gold, copper and zinc anomalies were recorded from the geochemical sampling.
