An assessment of the uranium and base metal potential of an area located 75 km north of Yunta included the inspection of historic uranium prospects, geological mapping at 1:25,000 scale, rock chip and groundwater sampling, reprocessing of aerial magnetic data, and the drilling of 47 RAB holes totalling 1873 m to sample the concealed basement for geochemical and petrographic determinations and to permit radiometric logging of the Cainozoic overburden and bedrock sequence. A core drilling programme was also conducted by the Sydney University Department of Geology and Geophysics to obtain fresh basement cores for laboratory testing of various petrophysical parameters (magnetic susceptibility, bulk density, electrical conductivity and resistivity, remanent magnetism and certain induced polarisation characteristics pertinent to the frequency domain IP response), in order to assist calibration of future geophysical surveys seeking to map the Willyaman sequence under cover. The licensee's exploration is ongoing to target zones of radiometric anomalism under cover with radon surveys and further drilling to sample the Palaeoproterozoic basement granitoids and gneisses.
