Exploration for stratiform base metals in the Bimba Formation, and later for gold associated with banded iron formations of the Willyaman migmatitic Middle Gneiss Suite, has consisted of regional and detailed geological mapping, and mine tunnel, gossan, rock chip, soil and stream sediment sampling, plus ground magnetic, gravity and VHEM surveys. Drilling of 3 diamond core holes (aggregate 390 m) plus 16 percussion (total 1796 m) and 138 RAB holes (total 2766.5 m) disclosed only weak copper, lead and zinc sulphide mineralisation, with trace gold, cobalt, barium and arsenic. Other ongoing work addressing the uranium potential of strata at the Carpentarian/Adelaidean contact has comprised helicopter and ground-based scintillometric surveys plus rotary percussion drilling (12 holes, total 1174 m) and downhole radiometric logging.
