Ore reserves were recalculated to investigate the discrepancies between amounts of contained copper delivered to the mill and some much higher pre-production estimates. The apparent reason for the difference was over-optimistic pre-production estimates, combined with inadequate mine planning and day-to-day grade control. Large tonnages of economic copper ore may have been left un-mined, particularly in the existing pit floor.
