In a continuing search for possible shallow Mount Gunson type stratiform copper deposits within Adelaidean strata of the southern Stuart Shelf, detailed investigations conducted near Pandurra Homestead have included geological mapping, rock chip geochemical sampling, acquisition of 38 line km of gravity and Sirotem survey traverses, and the drilling, geochemical sampling and geophysical logging of 12 rotary stratigraphic/exploration holes totalling 934.5 m (762 m as open-hole and 172.5 m cored). No notable mineralisation was encountered. The best downhole sample assay values were 1 m @ 0.75% Cu within Tapley Hill Formation in hole J13, and 3 m @ 0.5% Cu within Tapley Hill shales in hole J14. Further regional investigations aimed at assessing the potential for finding copper deposits associated with the undrilled western subcrop edge of the newly recognised Beda Volcanics formation included lineament interpretation from Landsat images, the re-contouring of 1975 BMR aeromagnetic data, wireline log petrophysical studies, stratigraphic and logged subsurface marker horizon structural mapping, and the drilling, geophysical logging and geochemical sampling of 15 rotary percussion stratigraphic /exploratory holes totalling 1983 m. Some minor chalcopyrite mineralisation was seen at the Tapley Hill Formation / Pandurra Formation contact in hole EX173.
