In a continuing search for possible sandstone type sedimentary uranium deposits occurring within buried palaeochannel systems, a reconnaissance resistivity depth sounding survey was conducted along 10 traverses across an area lying east and north-east of Kyancutta. 5 resistivity anomalies were identified that might indicate places where the target Tertiary sediments are thick and likely to be chemically reduced. Subsequent drilling of 39 open rotary holes (total 852.5 m) at 2 km spacings along existing roads across the licence failed to intersect thick or prospective Tertiary age palaeochannel sediments, and no downhole radiometric anomalies were detected by wireline logging. A shallow ?Pliocene channel was located in the south-western part of the area, where depths to basement in places increased from the common 4 - 18 m to a maximum of 42 m.
