Sampling of a thin, gently dipping quartz pebble conglomerate in the Mount Kingston - Peake area (13 samples totalling 3400 kg) gave Au values ranging from 0 - 0.036 g/t (mean value 0.015 g/t). Five samples taken for testing from two other areas having similar conglomerate deposits did not contain gold. There does not appear to be a gold concentration in any particular section of the conglomerate profile. A Tertiary age is suggested (basal conglomerate of Murnpeowie Formation), in preference to Jurassic - Cretaceous Algebuckina Sandstone. The author recommends that the sample concentrates be examined from a diamond exploration viewpoint.
