Exploration undertaken north of Mingary, initially directed towards uranium in basement, was thereafter mainly conducted for disclosing economic stratiform base metal sulphides, and consisted of geological mapping, soil and rock chip sampling, ground magnetic, helicopter-borne spectrometric, and grid-based VHEM and pulse EM surveys. Drilling of 20 percussion holes totalling 1215 m at Shorts Dam tested PEM anomalies below severely deformed gossans. Best results included 9 m of 0.1% Co, 5 m of 0.27% Co, 6 m of 0.24% Zn and 7 m of 0.18% Cu. A gravity survey in this area showed that a significant anomaly occurs associated with massive sulphides intercepted in several holes.
