In a search for possible economic stratiform copper deposits which might have formed at the base of the Neoproterozoic Tapley Hill Formation, 4 vertical rotary mud/diamond drillholes totalling 939.5 m were put down in the vicinity of Tregolana and Sugarloaf Hill, on two separate licence sub-blocks respectively located 40 km south-west and 35 km west-northwest of Port Augusta. None of these holes encountered significant base metal mineralisation. Hole TR3 drilled through the entire southern Stuart Shelf stratigraphic section, and was terminated at a total depth of 400.4 m within strata of the Gawler Range Volcanics.
