An area centred approximately 100 km north-east of Hawker was taken up to look for possible economic Mississippi Valley type lead-zinc mineralisation that may have formed locally within the Cambrian Wilkawillina Limestone. A proposed programme of shallow scout percussion drilling of this unit hidden under younger cover, and subsequent litho-geochemical analysis of downhole rock samples, was not done owing to the risk of obtaining only ambiguous results, and because of cost constraints on conducting a more rigorous exploration programme.
