Exploration which aimed to test the base of the Neoproterozoic Tapley Hill Formation for economic sedimentary copper deposits has included 10 rotary drillholes (total 1731.8 m), notably with a successful intersection of 1 metre of chalcocite - bearing shale from 146.31-147.31 m depth in hole UB3, plus 1 diamond drillhole (UB17 to TD 510.26 m) that was sited 5 m west of UB16. The new cored sequence did not repeat the UB16 high geochemical values (where samples recovered over a 20 m depth interval average 0.51% Cu) due to a lack of development of similar chalcopyrite mineralised, calcite-filled brecciation within the same lithology. In later work, five aeromagnetic anomalies were drilled to test for kimberlite targets, via 10 shallow PU series rotary holes totalling 171 m. No magnetic source was located for three of the anomalies, but the other two were shown to be caused by maghemite and magnetic sandstone occurrences present within the first few metres of the subsurface.
