Exploration by CRA for Mississippi Valley type deposits in Cambrian limestone included image processing of existing aeromagnetic data, ground follow up of 3 aeromagnetic anomalies in areas of interpreted shallow Precambrian basement, and Sirotem surveys over 5 topographic anomalies, interpreted to reflect palaeo-karst features in the Cambrian sediments. Drilling of the Kainton aeromagnetic anomaly (198 metres) did not intersect significant mineralization within biotitic, horneblendic basement schists and gneiss, although anomalous Co and La values were intersected between 78 - 80 metres. Poseidon drilled the Wirrahill aeromagnetic anomaly for massive sulphides at the basal Adelaidean unconformity. PW1 (85 metres) intersected amphibolite containing trace to 5% magnetite. 10 holes (394.5 metres) in the Clinton Palaeochannel saw significant anomalous uranium intersected in AP8 in zone of fluvial - deltaic facies transition along the Ardrossan Thrust Zone.
