Aerial electromagnetic surveys using the Barringer Mark V 'INPUT' System were flown by CSR Ltd in the vicinity of Mount Gunson in three sorties during 1973 (260 line km), 1975 (3686 line km) and 1977 (1150 line km), in an attempt to remotely locate undiscovered stratiform copper sulphide mineralisation which may have been deposited within possible buried palaeogeomorphic depressions at the Pandurra Formation - Whyalla Sandstone stratigraphic boundary. Many potentially metalliferous conductive zones were identified, despite major ambiguities inherent with interpreting the EM effects, and these zones were prioritised, according to perceived exploration value criteria, for future drilling evaluation.
