TARGET: Possible untested ?Pliocene deep leads of auriferous gravels that might be concealed beneath reported thick calcrete caprocks, in an area that lies downstream from historic alluvial gold workings in Brady's Gully and Strawbridge's Gully. EXPLORATION: Acquisition and interpretation of 1300 m of seismic refraction surveys consisting of 2 profiles across Salt Creek, to search for inferred palaeochannels that are incised into the Adelaidean bedrock, and follow-up shallow drilling along 3 traverses (23 RAB and 4 reverse circulation open drillholes, together totalling 273 m of penetration). RESULTS: Only thin, immature eluvial to alluvial gravels were shown to be present in most of the drillholes, and a hard calcrete layer was generally missing. 27 selected samples taken from the RC drillholes were analysed for gold by BLEG techniques, and the results ranged from 0.1-0.5 ppb Au, except for one sample from hole T4 on Seismic Line 1, which yielded 8.0 ppb Au.
