TARGET: Gold mineralisation of the Boddington, WA type, formed in Pliocene laterites, and hydrothermal gold within quartz vein stockworks formed in the underlying Cambrian or Archaean bedrock. EXPLORATION: Data review, inspection of stored drill core, rock chip sampling of laterite outcrops, and orientation sampling (6 samples) at the historic Callawonga mine (located outside of EL). RESULTS: 4 of 46 laterite samples assayed gave elevated gold values in the range 1.3-1.95 g/t Au. A mineragraphic study was made on 2 of the gold-bearing ironstone samples to establish the mode of gold occurrence and whether genesis of the ironstone was gossan-related, but examination of the polished sections gave negative results in both respects.
