Based on physical characteristics of the Moorlands, Anna and Bower coalfields, a geological / geophysical model for brown coal deposition was developed by CRAE, and four other target areas were selected. It was decided that six inferred kimberlite - caused aeromagnetic anomalies may actually be due to magnetic minerals present in Kanmantoo Group pyritic horizons. From interpretation of the aerial radiometric data, one uranium channel anomaly was identified. It was suspected that a zone of potassium and thorium anomalies running along the western shore of Lake Albert may be due to heavy mineral concentrations.
