TARGET: Possible buried epithermal or hydrothermal gold deposits in the Anabama Hill area. EXPLORATION: An airborne magnetic survey (line spacing : 250 m; altitude : 80 m) covering ELs 1102, 1163 and 1234 was flown by Aerodata Pty Ltd in October 1984. The data was reprocessed in 1986 using proprietary image processing computer software [results not available]. Shallow RAB bedrock drilling (1316 vertical holes totalling 2984.7 m) was undertaken at 10 m hole intervals along eleven traverses, to test the hidden causes of cross-cutting magnetic anomalies, which proved to be related to supergene iron oxide alteration, and to sample the Cradock Quartzite Member and Saddleworth Formation in the core of the Wadnaminga Anticline. Stream sediment, soil and regional rock chip sampling, 1:25,000 scale geological mapping, and ground magnetic surveys and ground radiometric surveys were also undertaken. RESULTS: Minor gold anomalism proved to be associated with downstream dispersion from the Welsh Prince prospect, and with several thin veins of haematite / magnetite / goethite-in-quartz occurring in a dolomitic siltstone bed near the Cradock Quartzite Member / Saddleworth Formation contact.
