TARGET: Possible epigenetic vein-hosted gold and mercury in the Mount Compass area. EXPLORATION: Geological field reconnaissance; 16 underground and surface rock chip grab samples were collected at abandoned old workings and along surface traverses. RESULTS: Gold assay values > 1 g/t Au were disclosed from 12 of the samples, the best being 4.2 g/t Au returned by a sample taken from the main stope of the historic Mount Monster gold mine.
