TARGET: Possible economic buried heavy mineral sand accumulations in raised beach strandlines within the upper Pliocene Parilla Sand, in the Moorook area south of Loxton and Waikerie. EXPLORATION: RAB drilling conducted along eight traverses (440 vertical open holes totalling 7180 m). RESULTS: Several similar sized small zones of minor heavy mineral concentration were intersected. By far the best grade lens averages 1.29% heavy minerals over a thickness of 2.6 m. It is up to 800 m wide and occupies a strike length of possibly up to 11 km. However, the contained heavy mineral assemblage comprising 5% rutile, 10% leucoxene, 27% ilmenite and 11% zircon was deemed to be of no economic importance to Aberfoyle.
