This report describes the findings of a programme of shallow wagon drilling (189 holes, total 6095 feet) into concealed bedrock beneath the alluvial plain separating the Crocker Well Original and East uranium ore occurrences, seeking evidence of a buried continuation of mineralisation. A complementary exercise of estimating percentages of rock-forming minerals in the solid basement was also undertaken, as a way of investigating the possibility of alteration and consequent "halo" effects in the rocks surrounding mineralisation. Only minor uranium mineralisation was found in the area tested, with no evidence forthcoming of any high grade mineralised occurrences. Some rock alteration does appear to have taken place with mineralisation, but evidence as to its exact nature is conflicting. The one mineral association which is compelling is the occurrence of unusual bronze-coloured biotite around the brannerite mineralisation. Also, the variation in rock types in mineralised versus un-mineralised areas is much greater, which points to some involvement of the migmatisation process in locating mineralisation.
