TARGET: Olympic Dam style base and precious metal deposits; iron ore; kimberlitic diatremes. EXPLORATION: Two aerial magnetic and radiometric surveys, a semi-regional gravity survey, and a helimag survey of possible kimberlite targets, plus ground magnetic, gravity and Sirotem surveys over specific prospect grids, and the drilling of 20 percussion holes totalling 1562 m. RESULTS: Basement lithologies intersected included gabbro, granulite, gneiss, magnetite-gneiss and banded iron formations. No significant metallic mineralisation or kimberlitic lithologies were encountered. Indicator mineral/microdiamond determinations on bottomhole drill cuttings samples taken from 15 drilled magnetic anomalies recovered no diamond indicators, although one non-kimberlitic pyrope grain was recovered (possibly reworked into Mesozoic sediments from the Proterozoic basement).
