TARGET: Economic sub-bituminous Permian coals in the Mount Toondina Formation, similar to those found by Getty in the Weedina Coal Deposit to the north. EXPLORATION: A review of existing seismic, gravity and magnetic data, aerial photograph interpretation and a SIROTEM survey. Under a joint venture agreement with Stockdale/Metana, 6 of their diamond search rotary drillholes were deepened to intersect the Mount Toondina Formation, but had no success in finding any coal. The majority of work reported was in fact centred outside of, but related to, EL 1177, and consisted of geological data collection to support conceptual coal mine design and mining feasibility studies for the Weedina deposit.
