A survey of surface water and groundwater chemistry in the Plumbago region was carried out for E-Z by an Amdel consultant to try to find vectors to possible undiscovered uranium mineralisation, through interpretation of the geochemical significance of uranium distributions in natural waters. Previously collected samples from dams, tanks, bores and drillholes were analysed for their acidity (pH), oxidation potential (Eh) and bicarbonate content, before being acidised to pH=2 and assayed for U, down to a detection limit of 5 ppb. The resulting U values were then assessed in the light of their absolute concentration, the apparent size and shape of the drainage catchment area in which they exist, and for their proximity to known uraniferous mineralisation of various types. Out of this seven anomalous sampling areas were identified, which could not be satisfactorily related to the location and size of known uranium mineral occurrences, and thus require further investigation.
