As part of a regional exploration programme, possible Neoproterozoic sediment-hosted gold was sought in the Eudunda - Robertstown area, that could be associated with a major structure and with carbonate-bearing rocks formed low in the post-glacial cover succession. Following a literature review, reconnaissance BCL (bulk cyanide leach) and stream silt surveys were conducted, aiming to collect approximately 1 sample per 2 square km. Weakly anomalous gold values, to 1.9 ppb Au, were recorded near Mount Rufus, accompanied by arsenic (to 30 ppm As). It was decided that the tenor of the geochemical results obtained from the total of 42 samples did not indicate that a major gold-mineralised source exists nearby.
