Exploration for possible primary epithermal/hydrothermal uranium deposits of Olympic Dam - type, hosted by buried Precambrian basement rocks in an area located 150 km to the south south-east of Lake Frome, has consisted of the acquisition of gravity and ground magnetic surveys over the eastern and western sides of an interpreted coincident aeromagnetic and gravity anomaly (M9). Preliminary computer modelling of the anomaly sources was performed, which suggested that both of the magnetic sources lie in close proximity to a 1.5-2 mGal residual gravity anomaly. The western magnetic source appeared to lie at a substantially shallower depth than the eastern one, by more than 300-400 m, so this target was chosen for future drilling. A 135 m deep cased precollar hole was percussion drilled, in readiness for diamond drilling to around 600 m depth during the coming licence term.
