TARGET: Possible economic heavy mineral sand accumulations in Pliocene raised beach strandlines developed along part of the south-western margin of the Murray Basin. EXPLORATION: Exploratory and appraisal RAB drilling along 8 roadside traverses (315 holes totalling 5165 m), plus mineragraphic examinations and quantitative and semi-quantitative mineralogical determinations of composite drill cuttings samples. RESULTS: An extension was disclosed of the Mindarie heavy mineral sands deposit recently discovered on Aberfoyle's adjacent EL 1397. The mineralised sand lens found on EL 1417 is >200 m wide, averages 3 m thick, and contains on average 1.52% heavy minerals.
