TARGET: Precious metals, specifically platinum group metals and gold, associated with ultrabasic intrusives and strongly faulted and altered metasediments in the Tumby Bay area. EXPLORATION: Geochemical sampling including rock chip, gravel and BCL (Bulk Cyanide Leach) soil sampling, plus geological mapping, IP surveys and reverse circulation drilling (8 holes totalling 552 m) over the Burrawing mine. RESULTS: Rock chip sampling of the primary target ultramafic bodies lying 9 km west of Tumby Bay revealed only low values for platinum and palladium (up to 31 ppb Pt and 26 ppb Pd, but averaging below 5 ppb for both), and no significant Au, Cu or Ni values. The implications of gold values to 4.5g/t from jasperoidal rock chips sampled at the Burrawing mine, for locating near-surface, possible skarn - type or lateritic Carlin - type epithermal vein deposits, were downgraded by limited percussion drilling (8 holes totalling 552.5 m). The best intersections returned were 4 m @ 0.39 g/t Au, plus 0.26% Cu, from 28-32 m depth in TRC7, and 2 m @ 0.18 g/t Au and 1.1% Cu from 64-66 m depth in TRC6.
