TARGET: Diamonds in the region north and east of Carrieton. EXPLORATION: Following some early positive results from limited reconnaissance sampling, numerous 20 kg stream sediment samples and several bulk loam samples were collected, processed and examined for possible kimberlite indicator minerals that might be contained within the sediment heavy mineral fraction. Areas around the sites of gravel samples having anomalous mineralogy were followed up by grid-based loam sampling and by acquiring ground magnetic survey profiles. The heavy mineral concentrates of mineralogically anomalous samples were also assayed for kimberlite pathfinder elements by AAS, and rutile grains from an abundant occurrence at the Anomaly 7 site near Minburra Homestead were also analysed for mineral chemistry using an electron microprobe. RESULTS: No significant amounts or diagnostic types of kimberlite indicator minerals were recovered.
