TARGET: Sedimentary uranium deposits in the Lower Tertiary sediments overlying the Mesozoic Frome Embayment and Cambrian Moorowie Syncline stratigraphic succession, adjacent to and overlying the western flank of the Proterozoic Benagerie Ridge. EXPLORATION: Resistivity traverses, and geological and geophysical evaluation of 49 open rotary drillholes totalling 3300.4 m. RESULTS: Widespread low-grade uranium mineralisation was outlined in the Lake Namba Palaeochannel. However, no significant redox trends and associated uranium deposition characteristic of the roll-front type was found. The maximum gamma ray log activity peak recorded was 500 counts per second, at the contact between a black humic silt and the basal Eyre Formation braided fluvial channel sand in drillhole LN41. All the anomalous radioactivity detected is restricted to either the basal Eyre Formation interval or to the Benagerie Ridge basement rocks, with the latter volcanic porphyry typically showing a high background of 100-200 cps, especially near the top where weathered.
