As part of a regional search for possible economic uranium and copper-molybdenum deposits formed in Precambrian basement and overlying early Adelaidean cover metasediments, Kennecott Explorations conducted a reconnaissance aerial radiometric survey of an area of extremely rugged, largely inaccessible arid mountain terrain comprising SML 213. Two anomalous total count trends were defined which both extend for about 1.5 miles in an east-west direction, and which are roughly 0.5 mile apart. The radioactivity readings do not occur as distinct peaks, but as broad irregular highs which closely follow the trend of two prominent granite ridges composed of rocks of the Older Granite Suite of the Mount Painter Complex. Limited ground follow-up of the survey as completed to date has not disclosed any signs of mineralisation.
