Lochiel coal deposit. 1984 bulk sampling geological report.

A large diameter coring programme obtained a bulk coal sample for combustion testing from two sites within the coalfield. The major portion (227 tonnes) represented "average " quality coal from the proposed mining area, while a poorer quality fraction (27 tonnes) represented coal higher in sodium and chlorine, which may be recovered during mining. The sample sites were selected on the eastern side of Lake Bumbunga to ensure minimum overburden thickness and low artesian pressure. The data gathered included coal contacts, coal lithotypes and partings lithology, as well as coal quality analysis.
